An induction or inductive loop is an electromagnetic communication or detection system which uses a moving magnet or an alternating current to induce an electric current in a nearby wire.
Vehicle detection loops, called inductive-loop traffic detectors, can detect vehicles passing or arriving at a certain point, for instance approaching a traffic light or in motorway traffic. An insulated, electrically conducting loop is installed in the pavement.
Vehicle Loop Detectors. An inductive loop detector is used to detect motor vehicles. When the motor vehicle drives over the detectors wire loop the detectors senses the metal and then a relay is activated. This relay is connected to the motor controller card to automatically open the gate or door.
Vehicle Loop detectors are used to detect the presence of vehicles to open a barrier. Basically an inductive loop detector system consists of three components: a detector, a loop and loop extension cable. Typically the loop is connected to a loop detector.
Vehicle detectors sense the presence of vehicles. They provide an output signal to a control unit, such as a gate or door operator, to open or close. When used as a safety device, vehicle detectors prevent a gate or door from closing on a vehicle.
